The story of a young man who has the ambition and desire to become a film actor and the obstacles and struggles he faces on the way to achieve it is the story of the film ‘Star’. Kavin, who is known as a contributor to Bigg Boss and recently tasted success with the film ‘Dada’, has played the lead role. In this film, Aditi Bonghar and Preethi Mukundan have played two heroines. Lal has played the role of the hero’s father, who is the backbone of the story. Geetha Kailasam has played the role of the mother. Maran, Kathal Sukumar, Nivedita Rajappan, Theeps, Raja Rani Pandian, Sanjay Swaroop, Dheeraj and many others have acted. Lal, who appears as his father, is as usual in a natural performance. Lived as a loving father. Through her deep acting, she beautifully expresses her desire to make her son an actor. Geetha Kailasam, who plays Kavin’s mother, gives a very good performance as she shows motherly love to her son and is forced to go to work due to family circumstances.
Kalaiyarasan suits the role very well by showing various acting moments of the protagonist Kavin as a school, college student, youth, office worker. In the opening scene, kavin is charming as a schoolboy riding a bicycle. Until the break, he dances with youthful vigor. After that, he also evokes pity in the scenes where he is paralyzed at home in an accident. kavin steals heart with his excellent performance, from sulking that he didn’t get the role, to exclaiming that he will definitely act.
Both the heroines Aditi and Preethi Mukundan have done a great job.They have done justice to their roles with looks and acting.
The film starts from the 90’s and the scenes are created according to the era of school, college and beyond, with depictions of Mandars in style and fashion to reflect the times. The director has tried to vividly show the fans the contemporary reality of thousands of people entering the film industry and only one succeeding. Yuvanshankar Raja’s music was the biggest strength of the film. In particular, the background music during Gavin’s sufferings in Mumbai is special. The cinematographer’s camera travels according to the director’s wishes. Likewise, kavin’s verse encouraging women in his college performance is commendable. The distressing scenes of kavin being paralyzed after the accident were also good.
The climax of the film is a good twist. The strength of the film is that the greatest director of Tamil cinema, Vetrimaaran, has acted in a special appearance.
