The people living in the village adjacent to the forest make their livelihood by extracting honey. A village-based couple, the hero Vijay Prasad and the heroine Gayatri Rema, are childless and are insulted and ostracized by the villagers. Meanwhile, hero Vijay Prasad, who goes to the middle of the forest to collect honey, sees a baby there. Wondering how the child came to be in the middle of the forest!, he nurtures the child.

Meanwhile, Vijay Prasad comes to know about the criminal activities of the villains who hunt animals like elephants and tigers and earn money from it, and makes efforts to stop them. But the villains blame the hero for their mistakes, and the townspeople believe that Vijay Prasad is the one who commits such crimes. At this stage, when the time comes for garlanding the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple, Nayak wants to go to Sabarimala along with his family. But the townspeople reject it, so he and his son decide to go to Sabarimala by themselves. At this time, some people die mysteriously in the forest, and the forest department, believing that a tiger has killed them, prohibits the villagers from traveling to Sabari Hill, saying that there is a tiger movement in the village. But the villagers, who deny the presence of the tiger, blame the man for these mysterious deaths. Did the hero recover from the accusations of the villagers? What is the background behind the mysterious deaths? It is ‘Ruben’ that combines all the aspects like spirituality, fantasy and commercial.

Only Hollywood gets it right when it comes to summer vacations by releasing kid-friendly films. Many people feel nostalgic that such films do not come in Tamil cinema. This ‘Ruban’ has been developed to relieve the longing of such people. It is not only a spiritual film, but it has become a commercial fantasy film that can be seen by all parties with a spiritual tinge. Especially director Ayyappan, who has told the story around the forest with an interesting screenplay and suspenseful scenes, has put a spiritual theme in the climax scene. With an unexpected twist, the climactic scene comes around 20 minutes in, and those 20 minutes are mesmerizing.

As Vijay Prasad, who is playing the hero, has already acted in a spiritual film, he not only acts naturally and attracts attention in the places where he garlands Sabarimala and prays to Lord Ayyappa, but also attracts attention by acting elegantly in action scenes and sentimental scenes.Gayatri Rema, who plays the heroine, has handled the intense character beautifully. His dismay at the scenes where he is humiliated by the villagers due to his infertility problem also leaves the fans distraught. Charlie’s experience in the lead role lends itself to the film in a big way. The performance of the actors who have played other roles including Ganja Karupu has also added strength to the film.

Cinematographer Rajeev Rajendran’s camera feasts the eyes of the fans on the beauty of greenery and gives the viewers the experience of traveling through the forest.
Songs in Arvind Babu’s music are also repetitive. The background music complements the pace of the scenes and the graphics bring the grandeur of the scenes to life.
Ayyappan, who has written and directed, has told an adventure journey in a commercial and fantasy style, with a little bit of spirituality in it, and has given it a film for all age groups, from children to adults.
The development of the child the hero gets in the forest, the director’s twist in the climactic scene through that child and the visvarupa story conveyed through it will make the audience stand up and applaud.
All in all, this ‘Ruben’ will be a resounding success
