Nayantara in Dora

After giving an outstanding performance in Maya, Nayanthara is back in Dora, a horror thriller of the same genera. However, this time around the eeriness is a much less.
Starring Nayanthara, Thambi Ramaiah, Harish Uthaman and Sulile Kumar in key roles, Dora is directed by Doss Ramasamy. The entire movie revolves around an Austin Cambridge car and Nayanthara.
A tragic incident leads a dog’s spirit into a possessed car. This car, an Austin Cambridge, is bought by Nayanthara. Harish Uthaman a rigid cop who is investigating a local murder.
here are two storylines in the plot – one is between Nayanthara and her father, played by Thambi Ramaiah and the other is about a tough cop trying to solve a case.
Doss Ramasamy seem to have got his plot right, though it is predictable. Although he spend quite a sizeable amount of time establishing his characters and in the flashback, there is flavour to the masala that he has cooked up. However, the narration does get slow here and there.
Nayanthara is a professional. She plays two different shades in her character and has made a distinction between the two with ease.
Thambi Ramaiah is cherry on top. His one liners and humour sense through out his presence in the movie has added a bit of comedy element in the movie.
Harish Uthaman’s role of a police officer is apt. His role has many layers and proves to be essential to the plot and screenplay.
One of the key aspects to a horror thriller is the camera and music. These two seem to have become a hit in this movie. Angles by Dinesh Krishnan is bright and lively, unlike those we seen shot in a dark background.
Vivek Siva and Mervin Solomon have proved their worth too. The duo have done a great job in the background score and tracks.
In the hands of Gopi Krishna, Dora has shaped well. Sharpe and crisp editing has become a credit to the flick.
