Vallamai

– The Powerful One: A True Picture of Life's Hardships

Directed by Karuppaiya Murugan, the film "Vallamai" is an emotional journey that neatly portrays the harsh realities of life. Premgi has fully showcased his acting prowess in this movie.

The core of the story revolves around the pain of losing a wife, the accompanying hearing loss, and the honorable circumstance of protecting a young girl. It is rare in Tamil cinema for such a narrative to be built around the hero. However, Premgi has utilized this opportunity without squandering it.

While there might be a slight shortcoming in portraying the character with more modest possessions to bring the audience closer, his expressions, the sorrow visible in his eyes, and the speed at which he runs for the child's safety are all commendable.Diya Darshini, who played his daughter, has also performed excellently. Especially her simple conversations with her father and her facial expressions that blend confusion and fear effectively convey emotions.Sooraj Nallusamy's cinematography is well done. He has powerfully depicted the grimness of city life and the central emotion of the story through lighting. G.K.V.'s music functions well as background support.

Although some minor confusion arises in the narrative flow due to a lack of clarity between the present and flashbacks at certain points, the dialogues provided by the director touch the heart in many places.

"Vallamai" is a natural yet impactful film. Such movies, which pave the way for important social conversations, need a place in cinema.
