Director Dhanush has proven himself to be an excellent actor in Indian cinema. Similarly, his previous directorial ventures have proved that he is also an excellent director. His third film "Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kovam" while being a typical love story or what you might call a 2K love story, is actually a well-rounded romantic tale with both conventional elements and additional features that can't be criticized.
The film stars newcomer Pavish, Anikha Surendran, Priya Prakash Varrier, Malayalam star Mathew Thomas, Venkatesh Menon, Ramya Ranganathan, Rabiya Khatoon, Aadukalam Naren, Sarathkumar, Sharanya Ponvannan, and others. The music is by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Leon Britto, and is directed by Dhanush.
The story follows a young chef who, under his parents' pressure, is about to agree to marry his school friend. He tells his future wife about his past failed love story. When his ex-girlfriend's wedding invitation arrives, Priya Varrier tells him that he still harbors feelings for that girl and suggests he attend the wedding to get closure. Following his future wife's advice, Pavish travels to Goa for the ex-girlfriend's wedding, accompanied by his best friend Mathew Thomas. The story revolves around what happens there - whether the wedding takes place, and if old feelings resurface between him and his ex-girlfriend.
Debutant Pavish delivers a natural performance that makes us appreciate him. In some scenes, we can see Dhanush's influence, as Pavish reflects exactly what Dhanush must have taught him.
Anikha Surendran has done a wonderful job. She plays a very wealthy girl who forgets everything when it comes to food. The foodie character suits her perfectly - it's as if the role was written looking at her face. She has performed excellently in both romantic scenes and emotional scenes with her father.
Mathew Thomas, who plays Pavish's friend, adds strength to the film and amazes us in every scene. All other actors have understood their characters well and performed accordingly. The characters played by Sarathkumar, Aadukalam Naren, and Sharanya Ponvannan add strength to the film.
Priyanka Mohan's dance performance in the "Golden Sparrow" song is captivating, and the song itself is enjoyable.
The film's strength lies in G.V. Prakash's music - perhaps because of his close friendship with Dhanush, he has put in extra effort compared to his other films. Both the songs and background score are major assets to the film.
Another strength is Leon Britto's cinematography, and the director has crafted many scenes like advertisements.
Director Dhanush has completely changed from his previous two films and has delivered a fun 2K love story that is both beautiful and deep, winning a special place in viewers' hearts. He has definitely given today's youth a great treat. Dhanush deserves appreciation for giving importance to emerging artists.
