Lucky Bhaskar – starring Dulquer Salmaan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and others, is directed by Venky Atluri with music by GV Prakash. Produced by Sithara Entertainment, the story follows Dulquer Salmaan’s character, a bank cashier, who is trapped in financial troubles. Due to his lack of money, he and his family face humiliations in several situations. This leads him to abandon values like honesty and hard work, deciding instead that making a lot of money—no matter the means—is what he needs. Lucky Bhaskar unfolds as he navigates the challenges and consequences of this decision.
In Lucky Bhaskar, Dulquer Salmaan impressively portrays Bhaskar, a middle-class family man. Despite being caught in financial troubles, he maintains a cheerful demeanor with his family. When wealth finally comes his way, Dulquer skillfully reflects this change not only in his lifestyle but also through subtle changes in his body language. His performance shines in scenes where he feels dejected, such as when he loses his temper with the bank manager, only to apologize tearfully. Moments later, he effortlessly returns to his usual self, showcasing his ability to anchor the entire film with his acting. Meenakshi Chaudhary plays his wife, while Ramki and other supporting actors add strength to the storyline with their well-measured performances. Though the songs by G.V. Prakash Kumar didn’t make a huge impact, the background score significantly enhances the film.
Cinematographer Nimish Ravi has meticulously captured the essence of the late 1980s and early 1990s, transporting viewers back 30 years with his stunning visuals. Though editor Naveen Nooli’s work may not stand out greatly, he ensures a smooth narrative flow throughout the film. The art director’s recreation of 1992-era Mumbai is also notable, drawing the audience’s attention to the period’s authenticity.Director Venky Atluri skillfully brings to life the struggles and mindset of India’s middle-class families, set against the backdrop of bank and stock market frauds. Through this context, he effectively highlights the socio-economic challenges of that era.
In Lucky Bhaskar, Dulquer Salmaan’s character starts with small, successful cons but eventually gets entangled in a larger scheme, which leads to complications. The way he handles the situation, especially when he loses all his earnings and devises a plan to recover, adds some intrigue to the film. However, the predictable sequence of events, where the audience can foresee the next steps, reduces the overall impact. Additionally, the portrayal of large-scale bank and stock market frauds may feel somewhat complex for general audiences, which could be a drawback.Despite the straightforward storyline, Dulquer Salmaan’s performance, the dialogues, and the protagonist’s strategizing keep viewers engaged. In sum, Lucky Bhaskar presents its main character as someone both flawed and wealthy, yet still manages to appeal to audiences in a relatable way.
