The preview of the film 'Kingston', jointly produced by Zee Studios and Parallel Universe Pictures, has been released. Leading actor Sivakarthikeyan released it on his social media page and congratulated the film crew. At the earlier preview release event, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu and prominent directors like Vetrimaaran, Sudha Kongara, Pa. Ranjith, and Ashwath Marimuthu attended as special guests.
Directed by debutant director Kamal Prakash, 'Kingston' features G. V. Prakash Kumar, Divyabharathi, Azhagam Perumal, 'Western Ghat' Antony, Chetan, Kumaravel, Sabumon, and more. The cinematography is done by Gokul Binoy, and G. V. Prakash Kumar himself has composed the music. The screenplay is written by Deevick, and editing is handled by Shaan Lokesh. Art direction is by S. S. Murthy, and action sequences are directed by Dilip Subburayan. Set against a maritime backdrop, this fantasy adventure entertainer is produced by Zee Studios and Parallel Universe Pictures. Dinesh Guna serves as the creative producer, and after all works are completed, the movie is set to release worldwide in cinemas on March 7th.
Following this, the preview release event took place at a star hotel in Chennai, where celebrities from the Tamil film industry joined the film crew.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu said, "When watching the preview of the 'Kingston' film, G. V. Prakash Kumar's hard work is evident. Congratulations to the debut director Kamal Prakash for directing this film.
Director Vetrimaaran also deserves credit for his involvement in identifying young talents in the remote villages of Tamil Nadu, who are passionate about cinema, educating them in all cinematic techniques through his foundation, and transforming them into creators. My best wishes to him.
After music maestros Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rahman, G.V. Prakash Kumar's talent shines in background music. I produced the 'Asuran' movie for which G.V. Prakash Kumar composed the music. When the movie was remade in Telugu, actor Venkatesh suggested using the background music from the Tamil 'Asuran' movie. When I mentioned this to G.V. Prakash and Vetrimaaran, they readily gave permission without hesitation, leading to great success in Telugu as well. The song 'Rasa' in this film will become a hit."
When I asked Vetrimaaran what Parallel Universe means, he replied, 'Whatever is at the peak is the equivalent,' At that point, this company will achieve great success in Tamil. I wish this company to continue identifying new young talents, providing opportunities, and producing more films."
Cinematographer Gokul Binoy said, "During the shooting of the film 'Adiye,' G.V. Prakash Kumar asked if I was working on a new genre of story. After hearing the story, I agreed. Without compromising on quality, his expectation was to create at an international standard at the beginning of the work on this film. When working on the film, he showed interest in learning techniques related to cinematography and encouraged the use of new technology for the film. He provided substantial contributions to the VFX scenes, tools, lighting, stage, and other aspects."
His goal was not only to produce this film but to continue producing films. I thank him for offering the opportunity to work on this film and for his continued support. I thank all the actors, actresses, and technical artists who worked on this film."
Art director S.S. Murthy said, "It was challenging to design a unique interior set combining sea and ship for this film. I thank the producer G.V. Prakash Kumar for trusting and providing this opportunity."
Director Sudha Kongara has been my friend for 20 years. She was an assistant to Mani Ratnam while I was an assistant to A.R. Rahman. She always has stage fright and never makes appearances on stage. She came here for my invitation. I also express my thanks to her.
I have been traveling with Pa. Ranjith for over two years. I acted in a film produced by him. I composed music for the film 'Thangalaan'. It was an unforgettable experience. He elevates his assistants to directors. So, whenever I work with him, I feel a new enthusiasm.
On the film set, director Kamal doesn't make any corrections when actress Divya Bharathi is acting. I found this surprising. Later, I learned that his wife's name is Divya Bharathi. After that, I understood the love he had for his wife.
This is a big dream. We see films like Harry Potter released in Hollywood. I would wonder why we couldn’t create something like that. When they take their grandmother’s story, we thought we could take our grandmother’s story. A story like our town's grandmother story is Kingston.
A fantasy. It should be told from our narrative. How would our town’s Harry Potter be? When Kamal told me these ideas as a story, it felt very intriguing inside me.
Zee Studios joined this film. They provided full support. At this moment, I would like to thank Akshay and Vinod on this occasion. They too have become a part of our dream.
Thanks to Kamal Haasan for directing the first scene of this film. I went to him and started a production company. I expressed my wish that he should direct the first scene of the first film produced by our production company. He came and directed it immediately without any hesitation. I express my gratitude for that.
I also extend my thanks to Zee Studios, the VFX team, Dileep Subbarayan, Nirav Shah, Gokul Binoy, S.S. Murthy, Sean Lokesh, Poornima, the lyricists, choreographers, Gopi Prasanna, Sync Cinema, Saregama, Azagam Perumal, Chethan, Kumaravel, Sabumon, Antony, Arun, Rajesh, Divya Bharathi, Yuvaraj, Theevik, Venkat Arumugam, Dinesh Guna, Kamal Prakash and many others for their cooperation in this film,” he said.
