DNA Movie Review

DNA Movie Review

DNA is a thriller film starring Atharva, Nimisha Sajayan, Balaji Sakthivel, Chethan, Ramesh Thilak, Rithvika, Subramani Siva, Karunakaran and others, with music by Gibran and directed by Nelson Venkatesan. This film is about child trafficking.

Plot Summary: Atharva becomes a full-time alcoholic due to a failed love affair, causing his family to treat him very badly. In this situation, for his younger brother's marriage, they arrange for Atharva to marry a slightly mentally affected girl, Nimisha. Ramesh tries to prevent this marriage, but Atharva still marries her. Their married life is very happy and they have a child. When the child is born, while the nurses are taking the baby, the child gets switched. Nimisha correctly identifies this and tells Atharva that the child has been switched, but everyone in the family says she's crazy and not to believe her. However, since Nimisha stubbornly insists the child has been switched, Atharva investigates at the hospital. But the hospital denies any possibility of the child being switched. At one point, he tries to convince himself, but seeing his wife's condition causes him pain. This leads him to conduct a DNA test on the child. When the DNA test reveals it's a different child, he searches for his own child. The story is about whether he finds his child or not.

Director's Craft: Director Nelson Venkatesan has delivered successful films with unique storylines in Tamil cinema. This film also presents a very different narrative about child trafficking. Although we've seen many films about child kidnapping before, this movie amazes us with a completely different screenplay. He exposes everything that happens in child trafficking, creating doubt in our minds. He shows that human sacrifice still exists today, and exposes that such practices happen even in Chennai. After writing such a thriller story, he has carefully selected appropriate actors and actresses and given us this film as a wonderful gift. The first half makes us emotional with sentiment, while the second half is entirely structured as a thriller. The scenes where Atharva searches for his child are beautifully filmed.

Performances: Although Atharva has done many films, none have really established a signature style for him. But Nelson Venkatesan has given him this film in a way that breaks that pattern. Atharva has understood this beautifully and delivered excellent acting, which has given Tamil fans a big hit film.

Nimisha Sajayan, though a Malayalam actress, has understood the Tamil character and portrayed it wonderfully. If we talk about the film's greatest strength, it's entirely Nimisha. She has delivered such magnificent acting that scene by scene, her portrayal of a mother's separation from her child moves our hearts.

All the characters in the film have acted wonderfully. Balaji Sakthivel has carried this film to a great extent.

Technical Aspects: Music director Gibran has provided excellent background music and songs, serving as strong support to the story.

Climax: Director Nelson Venkatesan has made the theater erupt in the last 15 minutes. Fans have been cheering and praising him for those 15 minutes.

strong performances (especially by Nimisha Sajayan), and the director's skilled handling of a sensitive subject matter.
