Aariyamala

Aryamala is an ancient name, but don't think of this as a mythological film. This is a love story set against the backdrop of that era, adapted to fit modern times. Aryamala is a film created by R.S. Vijay Bala, who also wrote the screenplay, dialogues, and served as co-director. The cast includes R.S. Karthik, Manisha Jith, Elizabeth, Sivasankar, James Yuvan, Thavasi, Manimegalai, Jafar, Velmurugan, and Marimuthu. The cinematography is by Jayshankar Ramalingam, and the music is composed by Selvanambi.

The story is set in a village. The heroine, ManishaJith, has reached puberty but has not yet undergone the traditional signs of coming-of-age. Since this is a village, people see it as a major flaw and gossip about it. Manisha’s parents are worried about her situation. At the same time, when Manisha's younger sister reaches puberty, it causes even more mental stress for Manisha, as some people in the village make things worse for her.In this scenario, Manisha dreams about the hero, R.S. Karthik, and falls in love with him. One day, she sees the hero from her dreams in real life, standing before her eyes. What happens after that forms the rest of the story of the film.

The hero, R.S. Karthik, plays the role of a folk artist who performs traditional village dramas. He shines in the scenes where he transforms into his characters, earning applause for his acting. However, his performance includes some overacting at times, which could have been toned down.ManishaJith, who plays the heroine, carries the entire film on her shoulders. The story revolves around her character, and she delivers an emotional performance, especially in the scenes where she is distressed about not reaching puberty. Her portrayal in the romantic scenes is also captivating. The supporting characters do their part naturally, giving the film what it needs. However, the abundance of songs interrupts the flow of the narrative at times. The screenplay could have been polished more for a stronger impact. The background score is adequate but doesn't stand out. The cinematography, on the other hand, provides good lighting and enhances the overall feel of the film.

Aryamala is a heartfelt love story set in the 1980s. The film captures the emotions and essence of that era, blending traditional values with a deep, emotional narrative of love. The storyline, characters, and backdrop are designed to evoke the simplicity and intensity of romance during that time period.
