3BHK Movie Review
3BHK is a film directed by Sriganeesh (who previously directed "Ettu Thottakkal" and "Kurudhi Aattam"), starring Siddharth, Sarath Kumar, and Devayani.
Plot Summary: The story revolves around Sarath Kumar living in a rented house with his wife Devayani, son Siddharth, and daughter Meetha Raghunath. Due to frequently changing houses, they dream of buying their own home. The film depicts whether they ultimately succeed in purchasing a house and their struggles in this journey.
Review: Every middle-class family's dream is to own their own house. Director Sriganeesh has beautifully portrayed how Sarath Kumar's family struggles to achieve this dream. Sarath Kumar delivers an excellent performance as a middle-class family head, loving father, and caring husband. He maintains consistent acting throughout the film, and his appearance suits each time period well.
For Siddharth, this is another good role after "Chithha." He fits perfectly into each phase - as a school student, college student, and husband. He gives a brilliant performance, especially in scenes showing his love for his father and moments where he breaks down emotionally. Similarly, Devayani, Meetha, and Saira have all delivered beautiful performances.
Technical Aspects: Director Sriganeesh has made a very sentimental attempt at telling the middle-class dream of home ownership. However, some scenes feel forced, where obstacles appear just when the family is ready with money. The rental house situations could have been portrayed more interestingly. While the first half progresses well, the second half's pacing suffers.
Performances: Siddharth's character as an average student resonates with many of us - those who couldn't pursue their preferred studies but took up courses to fulfill parents' wishes, struggled academically, yet endured for their parents' sake, ultimately losing their own lives in the process. His character will connect with such people. Similarly, Meetha's character of a middle-class girl who faces difficulties after marrying into a wealthy family will resonate with many.
Technical Credits: Amrit Ramnath's music - both songs and background score - work well. Dinesh P. Krishnan's cinematography is beautifully arranged to suit each time period. Ganesh Siva's editing is okay.
Final Verdict: While this is a film about middle-class people's dream of buying a house, the second half could have been better handled to avoid the serial-watching feeling. Overall, 3BHK's foundation could have been stronger.
The review essentially critiques the film as a decent attempt at portraying middle-class struggles with home ownership, praising the performances while noting that the execution, particularly in the second half, could have been more engaging.
